Ok here’s an perspective for you:
Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon, has been with the company for 28 years. In 2003, he helped create what would become the backbone of the modern internet—Amazon Web Services. AWS powers everything from Netflix to NASA and is now the most valuable part of Amazon.
Today, Amazon is worth $2.4 trillion and sits at the heart of the global economy. Yet Jassy makes less money than many YouTubers, comedians, podcasters, athletes, and actors—people who don’t manage millions of employees or steer a company that literally keeps the digital world running.
We need to stop pretending that leading one of the world’s most important companies should be measured by the same yardstick as a delivery driver working through college. The comparison is tired, lazy, and misses the point entirely.
Running a Fortune 10 company isn’t entertainment. It’s stewardship of trillions in value, millions of jobs, and a massive part of modern life. That deserves a little more respect—and a lot more perspective.
